From vibrant parades and colorful African fashions to artisanal exhibitions and spectacular stage performances, the Akan Festival has become a major cultural event in Côte d’Ivoire.
This annual cultural event celebrates the rich heritage of the Akan people that connects Ivorians and builds a cultural bridge across Africa and the diaspora. This year, the Akan Festival will take place April 26-27 in Abidjan, drawing visitors from across the region.
Founded by Alain Anzara, an innovator in the tourism and leisure industry, this young Ivorian of Akan origin has turned this cultural festival into a gathering place to showcase Ivorian and African cultures and traditions. Anzara received the 2024 Cybastion Innovation Award for the most innovative start-up in the tourism and leisure sector in Côte d’Ivoire.
As the Akan Festival enters its second year and continues to gain recognition, digital solutions will play a vital role in amplifying its reach and engagement. Cybastion, in partnership with the Ivorian Ministry of Tourism, will release in April, an innovative eTourism platform that aims to digitize and enhance tourism services and events in Cote d’Ivoire.
“It’s an interesting, flexible and practical boon for tourism professionals,” said Alain ANZARA about the Akan Festival.
Officially unveiled at the Sublimes Côte d’Ivoire event in December 2024, the eTourism platform serves as a digital gateway for booking tours, Ivorian cultural experiences, and business travel. Visitors can access event details, plan their participation, and explore more of what Côte d’Ivoire has to offer through the app.
