Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of Digital Transition and Digital Transformation, H.E. Ibrahim Kalil Konaté, visited the VITIB technology zone in Grand Bassam on December 9, to review progress on the country’s new National Data Center, a flagship infrastructure project central to the government’s digital sovereignty agenda.
Led by Cybastion CEO Thierry Wandji with the company’s Infrastructure and Real Estate Leads, Minister Konaté’s site visit underscored the high-level oversight and collaboration in delivering this strategically important facility.
Cybastion’s project management team guided the delegation through a comprehensive technical briefing, outlining the project’s design components, the construction milestones already completed, the next operational phases, and the safety and logistical dispositions established for the site visit.
The site visit delegation also included the Ministry’s Coordinator and team, representatives from the Ivorian National Bureau of Technical Studies and Development (BNETD–APL), and Ivorian-based construction company Porteo Group.
The national data center will play a key role in strengthening the country’s digital resilience and sovereignty by ensuring that sensitive data is stored and managed within the country.
From Dec. 2 – 3, Cybastion held a training program for engineers, partners and future operators who will operate the data center, once completed. The two-day training sessions, delivered by Cisco trainers, aimed to upskill future operators and ensure operations are aligned with international standards of performance, cybersecurity, and reliability.
“The National Data Center is the cornerstone of Côte d’Ivoire’s digital sovereignty,” said Dr. Thierry Wandji, CEO of Cybastion. “By advancing construction and training operators in parallel, we are ensuring that the country will fully own its data and the expertise to protect and manage it with the highest international standards.”
