On the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly, Cybastion announced the expansion of the Africa DigiEmpower initiative to the Democratic Republic of Congo, signaling a new phase of U.S.–Africa collaboration on digital transformation and skills development.

Hosted at the Cisco New York office, MOUs were signed between H.E. Grâce Kutino, Minister of Youth of the DRC, Dr. Thierry Wandji, Cybastion CEO and Macy Andrews, Cisco Vice President, to launch Africa DigiEmpower trainings across the country.

Africa DigiEmpower is a continent-wide digital workforce initiative that equips young people and women with advanced digital skills by offering free, accredited tech courses through Cisco Networking Academy in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, and other in-demand tech fields.

The digital training program is administered by Cybastion nonprofit organization THEYA Foundation, which coordinates with local partners to deliver trainings and tech camps and expands access to training beyond major cities leveraging U.S. Department of State’s American Spaces, educational partners, and caravans.

“We’re excited about having this training program in our country to help bring jobs and digital skills to our young people in the Democratic Republic of Congo,” said H.E. Kutino.

By bringing DigiEmpower to the DRC, Cybastion and its partners aim to build local capacity, accelerate adoption of secure digital services, and equip participants with skills to compete in the digital economy.

“Cybastion is proud to the Democratic Republic of Congo to  equip its young people and women with the tools to shape their own futures and drive the continent’s digital transformation.,” said Dr. Wandji.
