U.S. tech leader Cybastion is coordinating a three-day Washington visit for a high-level delegation from the Republic of Gabon from March 8–11 to advance the development of an AI-powered data center in Libreville and boost U.S. investment in expanded power generation capacity.

Led by H.E. Philippe Tonangoye, Minister of Universal Access to Water and Energy, the delegation includes H.E. Clotaire Kondja, Minister of Petroleum and Gas, and other senior government officials.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s U.S.-Africa Business Center held a ministerial business roundtable on March 10, where top Gabonese officials presented opportunities for U.S. companies to contribute technical expertise, financing solutions, and private investment toward the development of an additional 200MW of power generation capacity.

With an estimated 220MW power deficit in the capital region, Cybastion is supporting the delegation’s efforts to secure the additional power capacity required to sustain operations for the AI data center.

“Reliable power is the foundation of digital resilience,” said Dr. Thierry Wandji, Cybastion’s CEO. “A strong power supply is essential to powering data centers, digital services, and broader private-sector growth.”

Sarah Trotman, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Central Africa at the U.S. Department of State, underscored the importance of strengthening U.S.–Gabon economic ties and driving greater U.S. investment in the country during the roundtable.

In addition to meeting with private sector leaders, the delegation met with senior officials at U.S. government agencies to discuss priority areas for U.S. engagement to strengthen Gabon’s energy security and digital infrastructure.

The high-level meetings build on Cybastion’s ongoing partnership with the Government of Gabon to establish a secure, resilient digital ecosystem anchored by the AI-powered data center, and to bolster digital workforce development through Africa DigiEmpower, a partnership between Cybastion and Cisco Networking Academy.
