U.S. tech leader Cybastion signed a partnership agreement with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on April 15, to expand digital infrastructure and strengthen the Central African nation’s cybersecurity capabilities at a high-level reception in Washington, D.C.

Held on the margins of the IMF–World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C., Cybastion convened top U.S. and African government officials, investors, and tech leaders for a high-level reception to amplify investment opportunities in Africa’s growing digital economy.

The milestone partnership agreement between Cybastion and the DRC marked a new phase in the U.S.–Africa digital partnership and an expansion of the company’s Digital Fast Track program.

The evening reception showcased milestones and progress from the company’s Digital Fast Track program, an accelerated roadmap to advance Africa’s digital transformation and open unparalleled U.S. business and investment opportunities across the continent.

H.E. Augustin Kibassa Maliba, the DRC’s Minister of Digital Economy, said the agreement aligns with the country’s vision for digital sovereignty, expanded connectivity, and talent development.

The Cybastion-DRC agreement establishes a framework for the partnership in areas including data centers, connectivity, cybersecurity, fintech, and artificial intelligence. “This partnership reflects a shared commitment to building secure, resilient digital ecosystems that can support long-term economic growth,” said Cybastion CEO Dr. Thierry Wandji.

Last year,  the U.S. Department of State unveiled their new commercial diplomacy approach to bolster support for American companies. Dan Travis, U.S. Department of State’s Director of Economic & Regional Affairs, Africa Bureau, laid out the State Department’s vision for deepening U.S. commercial diplomacy in Africa.

As U.S. companies increasingly seek new opportunities in emerging markets, Florie Liser, President of the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), highlighted ways U.S. companies can enter the digital sector in the DRC and across Africa.

Dr. Guevera Yao, Vice-President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s US-Africa Business Center highlighted the Chamber’s series of presidential and ministerial-level engagements to attract U.S. investment in the DRC, particularly in digital transformation, critical minerals, infrastructure, and energy.

Bintou Kabore Zerbo, Executive Director of the Institutional Investor Network (IIN), spoke about IIN’s partnership with Cybastion to catalyze financing in the tech company’s digital transformation projects in Africa.
