African heads of state from Gabon, Senegal, Liberia, Guinea-Bissau, and Mauritania gathered in Washington on July 9 for a White House’s Multilateral Presidential meeting aimed at deepening commercial engagement between the United States and African nations.

On the sidelines of the official multilateral meeting, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s U.S.-Africa Business Center hosted executive business roundtables and private meetings with Heads of State and U.S. private sector leaders that focused on strengthening U.S.-Africa economic ties.

Cybastion Chief Operating Officer Andre Biyong and Senior Vice-President Scott Blacklin represented the company at the Chamber’s executive roundtables, of which Cybastion was a sponsor.

Four Heads of State — H.E. Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, President of the Republic of Gabon; H.E. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, President of Senegal; H.E. Umaro Sissoco Embaló, President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau; and H.E. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of Mauritania — highlighted why their countries are investment destinations for U.S. companies in key sectors, including digital transformation, infrastructure, agriculture, and energy.

U.S. business leaders explored strategic opportunities to expand public-private partnerships and catalyze greater investment and innovation in the respective countries.

At the exclusive private meeting with each African leader, Cybastion executives spoke about Cybastion’s digital and infrastructure projects and partnerships in Africa. Antonio Espirito Santo, Cybastion’s Government Affairs Coordinator, joined Mr. Blacklin at key engagements.

In late-June, Gabonese President Nguema presided over a historic signing between the Government of Gabon, Agence Nationale des Infrastructures Numériques et des Fréquences (ANINF) and Cybastion, to develop a state-of-the-art sovereign data center through its Digital Fast Track program.
