The Challenge

In Cote d'Ivoire, as in many African countries, women and girls face significant barriers to digital inclusion. The gender digital divide manifests in lower rates of internet access, limited digital literacy, and underrepresentation in technology-related careers. Cultural norms, economic constraints, and a lack of targeted training programs contribute to this disparity, preventing women from fully participating in and benefiting from the digital economy.

Without deliberate efforts to close this gap, the digital transformation risks reinforcing existing inequalities rather than creating new opportunities. Women entrepreneurs, in particular, miss out on the efficiency gains, market access, and financial services that digital tools can provide, limiting both their individual potential and the broader economic impact of women's participation in the economy.

Our Solution and Impact

Cybastion partnered with DigiFemmes, a leading women's digital empowerment organization, to design and deliver a nationwide digital inclusion program in Cote d'Ivoire. The initiative deployed a mobile training caravan that traveled to five cities across the country, bringing digital skills training directly to women and girls in their communities. This innovative approach removed geographic and logistical barriers that typically prevent women in secondary cities and rural areas from accessing quality training.

The program reached over 1,000 women through in-person workshops and contributed to the issuance of 21,000 digital certificates across the broader DigiFemmes network. Training covered essential digital skills including online business management, social media marketing, mobile banking, and cybersecurity awareness. Post-program surveys revealed that 80% of participating women entrepreneurs reported measurable growth in their businesses as a direct result of the skills acquired. This partnership demonstrates that targeted, community-based approaches can effectively bridge the gender digital divide and unlock significant economic potential.
